Description of centre

Oxford School of English is on the 4th floor of a spacious and quiet building in the very centre of Oxford, next to the main shopping streets and all the key attractions, including the university colleges, museums, art galleries, historic buildings, river, bars, clubs and pubs. There are spectacular views from the school windows, overlooking the rooftops of Oxford to the cathedral and other famous buildings.

Since our school’s formation almost 15 years ago we have built an international reputation for academic excellence. The school is the only Oxford testing centre for TOEFL iBT, and an exam centre for Trinity College and BULATS.

At any time, the school usually has some 130-200 students from 35-40 different countries, though in the summer that rises to around 350.

We also accept groups of junior students at any time of year, and we run a junior summer school in July and August. This is held in the very prestigious Magdalen College School in the city centre and has around 350 students at its peak.

The school has two computer suites with new, state-of-the-art computers, a library and self-study room (one of the computer suites), a large student lounge (with piano), a tuck shop at break times and a wonderful family atmosphere. There is also an extensive social programme, with excursions every Saturday and most Sundays, plus trips to Amsterdam, Paris, Scotland, Belgium and Ireland. The most popular event of all, however, is our weekly Pub Night, which generally attracts 40 or 50 students and teachers (although our record is 110!).
