Description of centre
London Tutorial College (LTC) is a Tier 4 HTS sponsor and is open all year. LTC provides a personalised education for every pupil
LTC prepares each pupil to fulfil their potential by offering tailored education programmes. One and two year programmes at GCSE and A-level, as well as tailored pathway programmes and academic holiday courses, are offered in small classes, with a guaranteed maximum of five pupils for academic subjects. This enables our experienced tutors to engage with pupils and help them achieve their personal best.
If the student is from overseas, LTC provides a very effective EAL programme which enables the student to rapidly acquire the necessary language skills.
Parents and pupils can choose from 25 GCSE subjects and 34 A-level subjects to ensure that each pupil can be taught a programme which is best suited to their needs and ambitions. Additionally, the study skills sessions and tutorial system provide a sound basis for success.
Experience shows that this approach helps students across the academic spectrum, from those wishing to retake exams to high-achievers aiming for top grades in GCSE or A-level. Traditionally LTC A-level students have progressed to ‘top tier’ universities in the UK and around the world.
Extra-curricular activity is an important part of life at LTC. There is a wide choice of activities including badminton, bowling, dance, horse-riding, ice skating, music, rowing, rugby, swimming, tennis, taekwondo and volleyball. We arrange trips to historic sights, museums, exhibitions and events in London that form part of a homework project and are used in class as a basis for discussion.
ISI inspectors have reported that LTC exceeds expectations in the last three inspections (2011, 2013, 2015). LTC is accredited by the British Council. LTC is also an edexcel, AQA and OCR exam centre and has recently secured registration with DfE as an independent school.
LTC is situated in Greater London, about 13 miles (21km) south west of Buckingham Palace and only 10 miles (17km) from London Heathrow airport. Surbiton railway station provides fast trains (less than 20 minutes) to London Waterloo and the main shopping centre of Kingston upon Thames is only a short bus ride away.
