The English Language Promotions Group (ELPG)

The ELPG (formerly called the Strategic Promotions Group) came into being in the summer of 2005, to work towards a more coordinated approach to the promotion of the English language among the members of the group - the British Council, English UK, UK Trade & Investment and VisitBritain.

When the group first met, they decided to put their vision for 'joined up promotion' to the test and jointly organised a fair in Cancun in March 2007 aimed at agents in the Latin American region. Following on from the success of this model, the Hong Kong Fair for the Asia Pacific region was held in February 2008 and then two further fairs were held in 2009 - in the UAE in April and in Brazil in October.

Now known as the 'English UK Fairs', these events have become a regular and much anticipated highlight of our marketing calendar.

The English Language Promotions Group also share information and work together in a number of other important areas, for example, the ELT Marketing Conference, British Council agent training schemes, the promotion of the accreditation scheme and opportunities for promotion of specific course types.

English UK Fairs

The success and popularity of these regional ELT-focused fairs is based on their small size and friendly, relaxed atmosphere - giving educators and agents a better chance to get to know each other and develop long-lasting productive partnerships. Participation is limited to just 70 organisations (30 educators and 40 agencies) and is only open to English UK member centres and selected top quality agents.
