Core group statistics

English UK runs an optional quarterly statistics scheme in which a 'core group' of member centres provide student weeks data on a quarterly basis. English UK then aggregates and analyses this information, enabling members of the core group to compare their own performance against the aggregate on a market by market basis.

Each core group runs for a period of three years, with the current cohort running from January 2014 to December 2016. Please note, it is no longer possible to join this cohort. All members will be invited to join the next three-year scheme in due course.

Each quarter, core members provide student weeks data by nationality, age group and course type. English UK then aggregates and analyses this information and produces a report that ranks markets, including breakdowns by course type, commissioned and non-commissioned bookings etc.

This valuable information is available to the members of the core group only, who can use it to compare their own performance against the core group aggregate on a market by market basis, in order to judge market trends and their own performance.

Joining the core statistics scheme is free of charge but each member must lodge a £500 deposit with English UK. Providing the centre submits its data in a timely and accurate manner, this deposit is returned in full at the end of the three-year scheme. This is to encourage prompt data submission and to ensure data is comparable year on year by stabilising membership.

Please note, the core group statistics scheme is distinct from the annual student weeks data submission (formerly called the annual declaration), which all English UK member centres must complete once a year, usually in January.
