Quality Professional Development for ELT Professionals
English UK Professional Services offers a comprehensive range of quality products and services for members through a balanced portfolio blending new innovation, new market development and new improvements with existing national and international brands.
We aim to provide an innovative, affordable, and quality-driven Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme that is both fit for purpose, relevant for the needs of our members and offers a memorable and special learning experience.
Conferences
We run three or four major national conferences in each academic year, these typically include:
- the well-established Teachers' Conference;
- the ELT Management Conference;
- the Student Experience Conference;
- the Business English Trainers' Conference; and
- the ELT Marketing Conference
In addition, English UK has an annual conference and AGM.
Qualifications
In 2008 a new qualification for business English trainers called the Cert IBET (Certificate in International Business English Training) was introduced. The certificate was created in partnership with Trinity College London. Courses can be taken either online or face-to-face in a number of international markets.
Other qualifications available are the English UK DELTM (Diploma in English Language Teaching Management), which is validated by Trinity College London, and the extremely popular English UK WOCC (Welfare Officers' Certificate Course).
Training Days
English UK offers a packed programme of training days from November to May during the academic year.
Consultancy
The introduction of the points-based system and mandatory accreditation created a scramble to obtain accreditation.
In 2008/9, English UK's Accreditation Consultancy Scheme (ACS) worked flat-out to help centres negotiate what for many was an unfamiliar process. Our team of experts helped 36 centres to gain accreditation posting a remarkable 83% success rate. This compares favourably with the Accreditation UK Scheme average of 66% for first time applicants.
As gaining and importantly maintaining accreditation is now high stakes, we expect more already accredited centres to start using the service and English UK consultants are also available to provide assistance on any area of business development and operations.
