Annual statistics
Statistical information is vital, both for informing members about trends in student recruitment and, by showing the size and value of the accredited UK ELT sector, for use by English UK in the lobbying of Government and other bodies on many issues. The cooperation of our members ensures that the most reliable English language data for the UK is collected by English UK.
As part of the rules of membership, all member centres (private and state) are required to submit an annual declaration, including information on the student weeks taught by their centre in the previous calendar year. This data is used for the purpose of calculating English UK subscriptions and in the production of an annual marketing statistics report. These annual reports are made available to all member centres. The latest available version, as well as past reports, may be downloaded (in PDF format) below.

Core group statistics
We also have a 'core group' of centres who have undertaken to return detailed marketing statistical data on a quarterly basis. In return, English UK aggregates and analyses this information, enabling members of this core group to compare their own performance against the core group aggregate on a market by market basis.
The information compiled from this group's returns is valuable and accessible only by the members of the core group. Each core group runs for a period of three years with the current cohort running from January 2011 to December 2013. 100 centres have signed up for the duration of the current scheme.
Under the current terms of operation, participating core group scheme members have each lodged a £500 deposit with English UK. Providing the centre submits its data at the end of each quarter in a timely and accurate manner, respecting the established deadlines, at the end of the scheme its deposit will be returned in full. In other words, this service is provided free of charge. However, in order to encourage prompt return of the data (which is where key value lies) and stabilisation of the membership of this group, there are financial repercussions for any centre who fails to submit its return within two weeks of the due date i.e. £50 is forfeit from its deposit. Furthermore, if a centre does not submit its statistics within four weeks of the due date, it is deemed to have withdrawn from the scheme and its £500 deposit or residue thereof is forfeited. English UK then strips out its statistics from all previous aggregates and recalculates the core group data to ensure that accurate like for like comparisons can continue to be made.
All English UK member centres will be invited again to opt into the next 3-year cohort starting in January 2014. For more information on the core group scheme, please contact Emma Chon, International Officer on emma@englishuk.com.
