The Accreditation UK scheme requires accredited providers to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Under copyright law all photocopies of copyright materials incur a charge by way of compensation to the authors. A centre must either hold a current licence from the Copyright Licensing Agency or ensure that no material protected by copyright is photocopied.

English UK has arranged a block scheme for payment of Copyright Licensing Agency fees. Discounts are offered by the CLA to English UK (and passed onto our member schools) in recognition of our administrative, coordinating and negotiating role. The licence fee charged is based on student weeks and the discount that English UK members benefit from is substantial - a saving of almost 50%.

For 2011 the language school member rate is £0.3065 plus VAT per student week. (For state sector members, the CLA fee is paid per capita by the parent institution.) Centres need to be in membership prior to 1st April in any year, in order to be eligible for the member discount for that year.

Please remember that you need to comply with the stated terms of the licence, including the need to refer to the Excluded Categories and Works as listed and periodically updated on the CLA's website.

For further information about the members' CLA licence, contact Alice Marcolin, Membership Manager, on alice@englishuk.com.
