English UK AGM and Conference 2012
Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 May 2012
Russell Hotel, London
As the highlight of English UK's calendar, this two-day conference is designed to be diverse, informative and relevant and provides an excellent platform for ELT providers and other experts to exchange knowledge and experience. This year's annual conference will take place on 23 and 24 May at the Hotel Russell in London.
A series of topical seminars will offer information on issues that are key to your business, and the event is your chance to take part in the affairs of the association, to hear from leading names in the industry and to network with colleagues from all over the country.
Review of the 2011 English UK Annual Conference & AGM
The 2011 English UK Annual Conference and AGM took place on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 May at Prospero House, a large training, meeting and conference venue on London's vibrant South Bank.
Due to political timings, this year's Parliamentary Reception was held slightly earlier than usual, on 10 May 2011. Therefore, in place of this, an informal drinks reception was held early evening on Wednesday 25 May 2011 at Prospero House.
Our 2011 Annual Conference was well attended with over 150 delegates participating in the two day programme. There were interesting presentations on a wide range of topics and delegates enjoyed the chance to network with industry experts and representatives from the broad spectrum of centres from within our membership.
Sessions included a presentation by Penningtons' solicitors on Tier 4 best practice, a very current issue, as well as how managers can lead learning and how to raise standards of professionalism. Other topics included self assessment for Accreditation UK inspections, social media and tourism marketing, using mobile phones and other technology to enhance the student experience and dealing with immigration issues. There were also sessions on market intelligence in Brazil and in the Ukraine, another on employment law for summer schools and one on how to push yourself harder to raise standards. Delegates had the opportunity to find out how the language tests known as SELTs work from a panel discussion.
