English UK/Trinity Certificate in International Business English Training (Cert IBET)
Introduction
The English UK/Trinity College London Certificate in International Business English Training (Cert IBET) is a specialist qualification for business English trainers and is offered in partnership by English UK and Trinity College London.
The qualification aims to enhance the skills, expertise and competitiveness of business English trainers, increase their employability and improve their ability to deliver a quality product to clients.
Cert IBET course delivery
Cert IBET courses are delivered through a range of flexible mediums to suit individual learning preferences. Course providers can offer the course to groups or individuals, online, by blended learning, or face to face. Many providers are also experienced in delivering courses on demand at any location.
Entry Requirements
Candidates must hold an initial ELT teaching certificate or equivalent in ELT/TESOL or have a minimum of three year's full time English Language Teaching experience constituting a minimum of 15 hours per week over a 32 week period. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate proficiency in English to CEFR C1 standard.
Previous experience of around 40 hours of teaching business English with common business terminology, concepts and skills and/or significant experience of working in a middle management role in business would be regarded as advantageous.
Cert IBET course details
The course that leads to the Cert IBET qualification lasts a minimum of 50 hours and includes 11 modules.
The syllabus includes: defining the nature of business English, key business concepts, needs analysis, materials and resources, internationalisation, course and syllabus design, methods and techniques, business communication skills and evaluation and assessment techniques.
Assessment
Course participants must successfully complete an approved course and submit a 3-4000 word assignment in order to obtain the qualification. All assignments are moderated by Trinity College London.
