Description of centre

York is a beautiful and historic student-friendly city. Situated halfway between London and Edinburgh, with frequent and direct train services to each, this is England’s most visited city outside of London.

English in York has been teaching English to foreign students in the heart of the city since 1985. We are a busy, friendly and interesting school. We take the trouble to get to know our students personally, and look after them while they are with us. We help them to make the most of their opportunities to learn English with a popular year-round social programme and the opportunity to stay with a local Homestay.

English in York is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK and is a member of EnglishUK. Our teachers are helpful and supportive: committed to giving a rewarding learning experience. We are completely flexible and run a range of English language courses to suit all needs, including IELTS exam classes, academic skills training and a variety of Business English courses.

Students at English in York have free access to our wi-fi network and computers.

English in York accepts students from all over the world, with our main markets being Italy, Spain the Middle East and Far East.
