English UK Candidate status (for non-accredited centres)
Membership of English UK is dependent upon successfully becoming accredited under the Accreditation UK Scheme. Accreditation UK (formerly known as the English in Britain Accreditation Scheme) is run in partnership by the British Council and English UK and is the quality assurance scheme for the UK ELT sector. By becoming accredited you become part of the network of quality providers and maximize your marketing opportunities.
Accreditation is granted after a successful inspection by independent experts against the most rigorous standards in the world. Full details concerning the operation of the Accreditation Scheme, the criteria and costs can be found on the » British Council Website.
Non-accredited English language teaching providers may subscribe to English UK as ACS candidates; a step along the road to full membership. The ACS service which stands for Accreditation Consultancy Service is separate from the formal accreditation process with the key aim to encourage and assist non-accredited centres in raising their standards to those required by the British Council and English UK and to ultimately enter English UK Membership.
