New Certificate in Business English Training (Cert IBET)
A joint partnership between English UK and Trinity College London
English UK and Trinity College London are delighted to announce the new Certificate in Business English Training (Cert IBET).
This new qualification is the product of a joint partnership between the UK’s national English language teaching association, English UK and validating and awarding body, Trinity College London. The Cert IBET aims to enhance the skills and expertise of business English trainers, increasing their employability prospects and improving their ability to deliver a quality product to potential clients.
“The Cert IBET is an important new qualification for teachers wishing to develop confidence and gain skills and knowledge in delivering professional English programmes. English UK is delighted to be partnering with such a prestigious awarding body as Trinity College London to launch a qualification that will hold international currency,” says Mark Rendell, Deputy Director of English UK.
Course features
The course offers a minimum of 50 hours input which includes: core content of 40 hours and an additional 10 hours of tailored material to cater for particular interests, markets or cohorts.
Providers can offer two-week full-time courses, part-time courses, and blended learning and distance delivery options. A wide degree of flexibility guarantees that there will be a Cert IBET course that suits your learning style and needs.
Entry requirements
Applicants must have an initial teaching qualification such as the Trinity College London Certificate in TESOL and at least one year’s ELT teaching experience, a year being a minimum of 480 teaching hours. Experience of business English training and access to business English learners is also desirable. Applicants should have a minimum level of English equivalent to Trinity ISE III, IELTS 7.0, TOEFL 627 or CEFR C1.
Course assessment
Assessment is through the submission of one assignment of between 3000 and 4000 words. Assignments titles focus on the development and evaluation of practical business English training skills. All of the assignments are then moderated by Trinity College London. Course validation and administration is carried out by English UK.
