English UK Training Courses in March

The following sessions are offered in March.

 1- Effective Time Management
Wednesday, 7 March; Buckingham Gate

Many managers today feel that their jobs place increasing time pressures on them. How can you work effectively and maintain your work/life balance? George Pickering will help participants to identify their personal “time thieves”, prioritise and plan their day, set compelling goals, manage emails effectively and to achieve a better work/life balance.

2- Staff Recruitment & Selection
Thursday, 15 March; Buckingham Gate

Finding and keeping the right staff is a key priority for any organisation. Francis Hallam will help you to set up a professional and transparent recruitment and selection process and start your relationship off with new staff on a sound basis. The session explores a full range of employment-related issues connected with the recruitment process and looks at selection techniques and developing contracts, job descriptions and job plans, linked to the original RS process. Participants will emerge with a clearer understanding of how current employment law affects all stages of recruitment and selection.

3- Contingency Planning
Wednesday, 21 March; Buckingham Gate

You can’t plan for every contingency, and indeed, if you did, your business would certainly fail through overblown bureaucracy or decision paralysis.  But some events are likely or even certain to happen now and then, and there won’t be time to do any planning when they do.
In this workshop, Terry Phillips we look at the necessity to plan for likely contingencies… and how to make sure things work in a crisis even when the manager is not physically present.

4- Young Learners with Challenging Behaviours
 Thursday, 29 March; Buckingham Gate

This half-day training day with Nigel Heritage is designed for managers, DoSs and teachers who might need to cope with young learners displaying challenging behaviours.  Every situation is different when challenging behaviours occur and there are no guaranteed ways of dealing successfully with each one, however, there are certain techniques that are more likely to have success.  The session gives information about how to recognise and react to some challenging behaviours both inside and outside the classroom.  It will include handouts, discussion and some short role-plays.

5- Working Successfully with Children
Friday, 30 March; Buckingham Gate

This training day with Nigel Heritage is designed for managers, DoSs, welfare officers, social organisers, in fact anyone who has to deal with children and feels they could benefit from learning more about methods and practices that have been successful.  Although there is a section about children in the classroom, the course is not aimed specifically at teachers; rather at DoSs who might want to pass on useful information to their staffrooms.  Based on sound pedagogy, the course content is much more practical than theoretical and covers working with children aged from 7 to 16.
