Call for papers

ENGLISH UK TEACHERS’ CONFERENCE Prospero House, London 2007

English UK is now accepting proposals for workshops and presentations for the annual Teachers’ Conference which takes place in London on Saturday, 17th November 2007. 

Application Deadline: Monday, 16th July 2007

Please include a 150-200 word outline about your interactive workshop, your contact details and biographical information (max. 100 words) in the body of an email entitled: Teachers Conference and send it to training@englishuk.com

Proposals will be evaluated by the organizers of the conference and presenters will be informed if they have been successful by Monday, 30th July 2007. Please note that presenters will benefit from free attendance at the conference and any travel expenses will be covered.

ELT Management and Practice Conference 2007 Round Up

This year’s Management and Practice Conference held at the Old Trafford Cricket ground in Manchester attracted 82 delegates (up from the previous year) with a particularly strong showing from our members and candidate centres in Manchester and the North. Delegates also travelled from various parts of the country including Perth and Plymouth. (more…)

The ideal candidate will be CIM qualified at Diploma level, with international marketing experience and excellent communication and presentation skills. Marketing experience will ideally include market research, strategy, identifying and developing new and emerging markets, and budget management. Knowledge and experience of UK education, international student recruitment and the English language sector would be a distinct advantage. The post involves overseas travel.

English UK commended in House of Lords debate

English UK was commended in a debate in the House of Lords on Tuesday following a question from Lord Quirk asking the Government whether, in view of the Audit Commission report of January 2007, Crossing Borders, they will ensure good provision of English language teaching for immigrant workers. Students fare well in New Charging Regime for Immigration and Nationality Fees

Tony Millns, Chief Executive of English UK, reported good news for students and visitors to the UK on his return from a pre-announcement briefing on Wednesday with Bill Rammell, the Minister for FE, HE and Lifelong Learning at the Department for Education and Skills, and Liam Byrne, the Minister of State for Nationality, Citizenship and Immigration, Home Office.
