Biometrics

By January 2008, in accordance with European Union regulations, everybody applying for a visa for the UK, including visit visa, will be required to provide biometric data. This will consist of 10-digit finger scands and a digital photograph. The turnaround time from digital scanning to confirmation to post is estimated at 30 minutes. (more…)

English in the North Academic Conference

English in the North is holding an academic conference on Saturday, 14th October at the Yorkshire Craft Centre in Bradford. The opening plenary will be by Mario Rinvolucri, entitled “Mutual Supervision to Prevent Teacher Burn Out.”

More agents than ever before

This year more agents than ever before participated in English UK’s annual Fair in Brighton – 470 quality agents met with 330 educators from 63 different countries worldwide. The top fifteen countries represented by agents were: Russia, Spain, United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, Germany, Latvia, Japan, Poland, Brazil, China, India, Taiwan, and Ukraine. 2006 also saw a steady increase in the number of English UK members represented at the Fair with 140 centres participating this year (118 private sector members and 22 state sector members). Aberdeen College is no longer a member of English UK following their decision to withdraw from the Accreditation UK scheme at the end of August.
