Making remote learning feel less remote with Abby Croucher
Lewis School of English was involved in both the PRELIM 1 and PRELIM 2 projects. This session shares the challenges and successes of designing a bespoke online course for teachers, with the aim of enabling those who are geographically remote to become part of a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

Reading in class: A move to mediation with Simon Dunton
As well as using engaging, authentic texts to help develop our leaners’ traditional reading subskills, it is important to allocate class time for learners to interact with, reflect on and mediate text content and message, just as they do in the real world. This session explores a variety of learner-centred activities for face-to-face and online classrooms and discusses how these are designed to maximise opportunities for communication, self-reflection and mediation.

Collaboration for teacher learning and innovation with Silvana Richardsdon
Many different research studies on how teachers learn identify collaboration between colleagues as one of the key ingredients of teacher learning. This session introduces what research has to say about effective teacher collaboration and explores concrete and practical approaches to collaboration that lead to deep, transferable and impactful teacher learning, which can be implemented by groups of teachers in face-to-face, online and hybrid settings, with or without a manager, mentor or coach.
