Description of centre

Colchester Institute offers a friendly and supportive learning environment close to the centre of the historic town of Colchester, only 50 minutes from London by train. With good road and rail links to the rest of the UK, easy access to Europe through the ports of Harwich, Felixstowe, Dover and the Channel Tunnel, Colchester is an ideal place to study. Besides its Roman past, it has a large Norman castle and to the north lies the countryside made famous by the painter John Constable. The area offers a wide range of leisure and sporting activities, including golf, swimming, football, riding and sailing.

Colchester Institute has been teaching EFL successfully for 40 years and has been accredited by the British Council for 25 years. Our well qualified and experienced staff teach multi-lingual groups from age 16. Many students come through personal recommendation.

Courses offered include General and Academic English, Cambridge exam courses (PET, FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS), Trinity TESOL teacher training and summer school since 2012. Students benefit from 15-18 hours per week and outstanding student support, enrichment activities and excellent computer facilities with free Internet access and a media-resources centre. Our students often continue onto further study at the College and higher education institutions in areas such as computing, business, performing arts, fashion and design, tourism, catering and engineering. Accommodation is usually with families, but self-catering can be arranged.
