40th anniversary of Accreditation UK

English UK and the British Council are celebrating the 40th anniversary of Accreditation UK in September 2022. The celebrations will include an evening event on Sunday 4 September in central London followed by Fam trips to accredited ELT centres and destinations around the UK.

We want to celebrate the long history of the Accreditation UK scheme, run in partnership between the British Council and English UK, and highlight the excellence of accredited ELT centres today.

London reception, Sunday 4 September

On Sunday 4 September 2022, we will hold an evening reception in London for our international agent partners, accredited UK ELT centres and guests who have supported Accreditation UK over the years.

UK-wide Fam trips, from Monday 5 September

On Monday 5 September, our international agent partners will depart on a series of Fam trips showcasing accredited ELT centres and UK destinations, exploring all that UK ELT has to offer over programmes lasting several days.  

Complete the Fam trip application form to apply to join one of the below trips. If you are accepted you will have the option of joining the celebration reception on the evening of Sunday 4 September.


Fam trips available:

> Cardiff and Bristol

Monday 5 – Wednesday 7 September

Visit year-round and summer centres in Bristol and Cardiff, two cosmopolitan cities surrounded by beautiful countryside and served by two regional airports (Bristol airport and Cardiff airport). Both are within easy access of London, in approximately 2 hours by train.

In Bristol, you will visit IH Bristol and ELC Bristol. In Wales, you will visit CELT and Celtic English Academy in Cardiff, and Peartree ELEA, located at the Atlantic College in the Vale of Glamorgan and Monmouth Boys School in Monmouthshire, for summer residential programmes.

Cardiff and Bristol offer the best of British experiences. Located either side of the England-Wales border, students can experience the English and Welsh cultures, as well as the diversity that makes these cities famous for their rich history, music, culture and sports. Enjoy sightseeing including Cardiff Castle, Bristol's Clifton Suspension Bridge, and waterfront entertainment areas.

> The North of England with English UK North

Monday 5 – Saturday 10 September

On this trip, you will visit the northern cities and towns of Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, York, Chester, Scarborough and Newcastle.

See a variety of top schools in top locations! Your chance to visit some of the iconic cities of the North of England.

Monday 5 – Tuesday 6 September

On this trip, you will visit two cities in the North of England: Chester and York.

Experience a warm UKLC welcome on our Northern Centres Fam trip. Starting in the Roman city of Chester, visit the University of Chester city campus facilities and accommodation followed by a guided tour of this historical city. On Tuesday travel to York to see our two fantastic centres at St Peter's School and Bootham School with an explore of the city in the afternoon.

Monday 5 – Friday 9 September

This trip will take you across London over four days, visiting centres in the four corners of the city.

London is back. See why tens of thousands of students choose to study in the capital every year. En suite accommodation is provided by our sponsor LondonIst in a student residence. On our fam trip you will be able to visit and meet with lots of English UK London member schools including Bayswater College, IH London, Kensington Academy of English, Speak Up London, Wimbledon School of English. You will have lunch every day in a school and a buffet dinner to close the day. On the final Thursday evening you will be invited to an event at Bayswater College to celebrate the industry.
