40th anniversary of Accreditation UK

English UK and the British Council are celebrating the 40th anniversary of Accreditation UK in September 2022. The celebrations will include an evening event on Sunday 4 September in central London followed by Fam trips to accredited ELT centres and destinations around the UK.

We want to celebrate the long history of the Accreditation UK scheme, run in partnership between the British Council and English UK, and highlight the excellence of accredited ELT centres today.

London reception and dinner, Sunday 4 September

On Sunday 4 September 2022, we will hold an evening reception and dinner in London for our international agent partners, accredited UK ELT centres and guests who have supported Accreditation UK over the years.

Taking place at the Assembly Hall at Church House, Westminster, international agent partners, accredited UK ELT centres and guests will have the opportunity to share memories of 40 years of Accreditation UK.

Please note this event is invitation only.

Guests include current and former:

  • Accreditation UK inspectors
  • Chairs/ co-chairs of English UK
  • British Council/ Accreditation Unit staff
  • Accreditation UK Executive Board members

Also invited are English UK trustees, international agents with confirmed places on fam trips, fam trip co-ordinators, heads of agent and ELT associations from around the world and guests who have supported the Accreditation UK scheme over the years.

UK-wide Fam trips, from Monday 5 September

On Monday 5 September, our international agent partners will depart on a series of Fam trips showcasing accredited ELT centres and UK destinations, exploring all that UK ELT has to offer over programmes lasting several days.  

Agents accepted on Fam trips will have the option of joining the celebration reception on the evening of Sunday 4 September.

> Cardiff and Bristol

Monday 5 – Wednesday 7 September

Visiting year-round and summer centres in Bristol and Cardiff, two cosmopolitan cities surrounded by beautiful countryside and served by two regional airports (Bristol airport and Cardiff airport).

> The North of England with English UK North

Monday 5 – Saturday 10 September

Visiting the northern cities and towns of Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, York, Chester, Scarborough and Newcastle. 


> UKLC (Northern centres)

Monday 5 – Tuesday 6 September

Starts in the Roman city of Chester, then visits York.


> London with English UK London (sponsored by Londonist)

Monday 5 – Friday 9 September

Visiting lots of English UK London member schools including Bayswater College, IH London, Kensington Academy of English, Speak Up London, Wimbledon School of English.
