Monitoring and reporting non-attendance

UKBA has provided clarification on their expectations regarding attendance monitoring and record keeping.

Visa fees from April 2013

UKBA have just published the proposed visa fees to be effective from 6 April 2013. The cost of a Tier 4 visa will rise by £9 to £298. The student visitor visa fee will cost £80 and the Extended student visitor visa will rise to £144.

The cost of applying for a Tier 4 sponsor licence will go up by £15 to £515; the application fee for HTS will rise to £515 and the cost of a CAS is going up to £14.

The UKBA is also planning the launch of a Tier 4 premium service in July 2013. The annual fee for this service will be £8000 and will provide sponsors with access to a named account manager and student eligibility checks as well as other benefits.

New priority visa service in Brunei

On 4 February 2013, a new priority visa service was introduced in Brunei. All applicants will be eligible to use the priority visa service in Brunei.


Changes to the prime time appointment service in Manila

From Tuesday 26 February a prime time appointment service will be available in Manila on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for an additional fee.

Pre-entry tuberculosis testing in the Philippines

Tuberculosis testing requirements will form part of the visa application process for people planning to come to the UK for more than 6 months from 28 February 2013.


New priority visa service in Russian Federation

A priority visa service (PVS) is now available to applicants across all visa application centres (VACs) in the Russian Federation


Visa applications in Thailand for the Songkran and Easter holidays period

A large increase in the number of visa applications during the period leading up to the Easter and Songkran holiday periods is expected. Applications should apply for their visa early if they are planning to travel to the UK around these times.

The UK Border Agency in Thailand is currently experiencing a large volume of visa applications


Vietnam: new UK visa centre opens in Ho Chi Minh City

A new UK visa application centre opened on Thursday, 21 February, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in response to continued growth in education, tourism and business visitor demand.
