Choices is the UK's assisted voluntary return service and has been operating since April 2011. Jointly funded by the UK government and the European Returns Fund, their programmes assist families and individuals in the UK without regularised legal status (from outside the EU) who wish to return to their country.
The Choices service can help people who have at one time been studying in the UK but whose student visa has expired or been curtailed. Many of these people find themselves in difficult situations and sometimes wish to return to their country. But they often don't have the financial means to return and that's where Choices can help.
Choices provides free confidential advice and information to people considering returning to their country. For those that decide to return, Choices support them throughout the process including applying for travel documents and arranging a free flight and onward travel. For some returnees such as families or those who have claimed asylum, financial assistance may also be available.
Choices have leaflets and posters in 16 languages and are happy to arrange awareness raising information sessions and presentations. For more information about Choices or to request leaflets or training sessions please contact 0808 800 0007 or visit www.choices-avr.org.uk.
