Study UK workshops and the 2013 Conference & AGM

Study UK, the official membership association for accredited independent providers of Further and Higher Education in the UK, will be running a Home Office and a health and safety workshop in December, and have extended their invitation to English UK member centres to register for the 2013 Study UK Conference and AGM.

Home Office workshop: A Tier 4 Sponsor's Journey – 2 December 2013

The next in a series of full-day workshops jointly hosted by Study UK and the Home Office, designed to assist independent colleges in successfully adapting to changes in immigration policy. The workshop will provide an integrated view of your current responsibilities as a Tier 4 sponsor and facilitate discussion of recent changes to policy and procedures. A maximum group size of 30 and an interactive workshop format will give you the opportunity to directly ask and get detailed answers to the questions crucial to the running of your institution.

Each workshop will cover a range of compliance issues, including sessions on:

  • Retaining Highly Trusted Sponsor (HTS) status
  • Sponsoring international students, your pre and post-arrival responsibilities
  • Preparing for and dealing with Tier 4 audits and continuing compliance
  • Tier 4 updates: a look at changes in IT, premium accounts and policy/guidance

Health and Safety Matters - 10 December 2013

By attending this training day you will familiarise yourself with the key concepts and issues at stake, while benefiting from the insight of one of the UK's leading experts on health and safety in education. This one-day introductory course covers accident causation and the reasons for managing health and safety in colleges, including the current legislative requirements.

Specific health and safety issues include:
