Kate Kim is 23 and from South Korea. She has taken a break from her university degree to study English on a ten-month course at English UK member Language Teaching Centres Eastbourne (LTC Eastbourne) in preparation for the FCE exam.
I am still at university and have one semester left. I am studying for a Mass Communication degree at Kyungpook National University. Then I want to work for a publishing company in marketing. It's my subject and related to advertising. English will help. In Korea English is very important to get a job.
I have wanted to come to England since I was very young, and I have been wanting to live in other countries. I thought I would have less of a chance to live in another country when I have to get a job and I have to get married.
I had considered Canada, America and Britain and I thought a lot. The UK has the best opportunity to travel to Europe. England has a more longer history and more historical sites than other countries.
I thought English people would be a little bit conservative but everyone has been really good to me.
In my opinion British people think family is very important. They spend a lot of time with their family. In Korea there are lots of shops and stores open at night and in Britain nothing is. Father, mother and children are all at home together, and at Christmas too. Work is 9-5 and everybody is released and driving home.
I have enjoyed myself. The teachers are very friendly and the students are from different countries so we have lots of opportunities to talk. The weather is not too bad.
I would tell friends to come to England because there are lots of opportunities to travel, you speak original English not American English and people are kind. I'd strongly recommend coming to the UK.
Meet as many people as possible!
