Description of centre

We are a family-run business providing intensive residential summer programmes for young learners aged 9 (in the year) to 16 at the prestigious Wrekin College in Shropshire, which offers excellent facilities in a safe environment. The centre is owner-managed and we have an average of 1 staff member for maximum 3 students on campus to ensure welfare, safety and results.

With a typical average of only 8 students per class and a maximum of 10, we make sure that every child gets the personal attention they deserve and the opportunity to practise English from morning to night including at mealtimes. There are 28 group lessons per week giving a total of 21 full hours of tuition. Students are grouped according to age and level and every effort is made to mix nationalities. With a focus on speaking and listening, group lessons cover all skills, including reading and writing. We can arrange individual lessons for specific needs. Each day, in addition to lessons, students participate in a performance workshop where they prepare for their performance in the Friday evening show.

During sports and leisure activities (15 hours per week) students are encouraged to continue practising their English through a variety of fun activities. These activities include tennis, badminton, volley ball, basketball, dance, table-tennis, football, fencing, swimming, rugby, squash, dodge ball, drama, leadership/team building, arts and crafts and music. Horse riding and tennis academies with specialist instructors are also available and we organise weekly discos, a talent show and a sports afternoon.

Excursions are an opportunity to continue practising the language in real situations. There is one half-day excursion each week and two one-day excursions for those staying over the weekend. Students learn about the local places they will visit on excursion and they will practise the language in lessons that they will use during these visits.

Accommodation is provided on site in mainly single and double rooms with pleasant lounges for relaxation. Prices include full board and accommodation, tuition, initial on-line evaluation, progress report and certificate, full sports and leisure programme, excursions, all entrance fees and laundry once a week.
