Description of centre

LAL Summer Schools runs 6 residental summer centres for young learners across the South of England.

Our aim is two-fold: enable students to use language communicatively in realistic contexts and provide a wide variety of enjoyable activities, encouraging integration with students from different countries and cultures.

All 6 centres provide a full activity and excursion programme, 24 hour welfare with dedicated house parents in each residence, trained and passionate teachers who enjoy teaching young learners and are all set amongst beautiful schools which offer a great taste of life in England.

Berkhamsted School*, for students aged 12 to 17, is situated less than an hour north west of Central London in Herftfordsire. The school dates back to 1541 and offers modern, state of the art facilities whilst retaining its original buildings.

Mount Kelly for students aged 8 to 15 is situated on the outskirts of the picturesque market town of Tavistock, located on the edge of Dartmoor.

St Swithun's is for 11-17 year olds and is located in Winchester, a city steeped in history, just an hour from London.

For 11-17 year olds, Taunton School is a prestigious boarding school campus about 10 minutes walk from the market town of Taunton.

St Mary's University* is for 13-17 year-olds who want to be close enough to Central London but still enjoy the security and freedom of a fully-inclusive campus.

The University of Sussex is the base for our newest school, just a few minutes' train ride to Brighton. The age range is 12 - 17.

* The Asterisk marks schools that offer Homestay - please check as age ranges differ from those above.
