Description of centre

LAL Summer Schools runs 7 residential summer centres for young learners across the South of England.

Our aim is two-fold:enable students to use language in realistic contexts and provide a wide variety of enjoyable activities, encouraging integration with students from different countries and cultures.

All 7 centres provide a full activity and excursion programme, 24 hour welfare with dedicated house parents in each residence, trained and passionate teachers who enjoy teaching young learners and are all set amongst beautiful schools which offer a great taste of life in England.

Berkhamsted School*, for students 12 to 17, is situated less than an hour north west of Central London in Hertfordsire. The school dates back to 1541 yet offers modern, state of the art facilities whilst retaining its original buildings. This is our digital school and we offer film-making and coding as extra courses.

Mount Kelly for students 7 to 15 is situated on the outskirts of the picturesque market town of Tavistock, located on the edge of Dartmoor. We operate two special courses: an outdoors, activity-based course and, utilising Mount Kelly's 50m swimming pool, one of the London Olympic pools, a professional coaching course.

St Swithun's is for 11-17 year olds and is located in Winchester, a city steeped in history, just an hour from London. Our sports school, we offer professional football and tennis coaching, each with an extra full day excursion to a football stadium or Wimbledon.

St Mary's University* is for 13-17 year-olds who want to be close enough to Central London but still enjoy the security and freedom of a fully-inclusive campus.

The University of Sussex is the base for our academic-based school, just a few minutes' train ride to Brighton. The age range is 12 - 17. We offer a university taster course as well as a leadership course.

The University of Salford hosts one of our newest additions. The age range is 11-17 and offers excellent single-room, ensuite accommodation.

Our other latest school is based in the University of Westminster, opposite Madame Tussaud's. Offering an excellent location, superb views all over London for 13-17 year olds
