GDPR training

GDPR training designed specifically for the UK English language teaching industry and open to English UK members only to help you prepare for and comply with upcoming General Data Protection Regulation, which comes into force on 25 May 2018.

On 24 October 2016, the government announced that the UK's implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will go ahead despite the Brexit vote. GDPR will be the biggest change in data protection law for 20 years and a lot of work needs to be done now before it comes into force on 25 May 2018.

The new regulation is relevant to every organisation, irrespective of size or sector because:

  • Penalties for violations are severe
  • The "personal data" definition has expanded
  • Data processing requires adequate security controls
  • The jurisdictional reach includes organisations outside of the EU.

We have worked closely with Hellen Beveridge, head of strategic insight at Circdata and expert on GDPR, to develop a training day for English UK members that is tailored to the needs of our ELT industry.
