with Jo Parfitt and Lisa Langley (Swansea University)

Behind each of the international students sitting in our classes, there is a story. Why are they here? What are they going to do next? How can we help them be successful? We will look at the student journey from pre-arrival through to graduation and beyond.

Data insights for HE/FE providers - with discussion on future developments in data collection

with Ivana Bartosik (BONARD)

Ivana will share the latest data trends based on students studying English in the UK state sector. There will be an interactive discussion on how English UK can improve the data collection process for state sector members.

How ELT departments can add value to their institutions and support student learning

with Will Nash (University of Sheffield), Hayley Maxwell (University of Birmingham) and Victoria Paterson (Edinburgh College)

This panel discussion will look at how state sector ELT departments can remain relevant to their wider institution. The panel will explore ways to add value, whether through additional income generation or by ensuring that international students are ready for their study programmes and can complete their courses to a high standard.

The future direction of the Accreditation UK scheme for the state sector

with George Pickering (ELT consultant and trainer)

In this session we'll review feedback from the sector on the future direction of the Accreditation UK scheme, look at the changes made to the criteria for 2024 and the benefits of the scheme for HE and FE providers.

FE college case study: how to run English plus vocational programmes

with Harriet Petty and Victoria Paterson (Edinburgh College)

This session will look at how Edinburgh College has successfully developed integrated English language and vocational training courses to meet market demand. You'll hear about the challenges the team faced, how these were overcome and what the future might look like for career-focussed English language learners.
