Work for us

Why work for us?

Around 35 per cent of all students travelling abroad to study English choose to come to the UK, more than 600,000 every year. English language teaching (ELT) generates around £1.2 billion in export earnings for the UK annually.

English UK is the world's leading language teaching association, with more than 450 members. We are a UK registered charity set up to advance the education of international students in the English language.  We have established ourselves as the voice of the UK English language teaching sector, and now work with a wide range of partners and stakeholders worldwide to represent the interests of the English language profession.

The English UK secretariat is a small, friendly and diverse team working closely with many different groups of people both in the UK and around the world.

We deal with staff from our member centres on a daily basis, on the phone and by email, as well as out and about at our conferences and events. We have frequent contact with study travel agents, corporate members, specialist industry groups and sometimes students as well.

The work is interesting and varied, and we interact daily with people working in one of the world's most sociable industries – an industry which often goes under the radar in the UK despite being one of our top exports.

English UK offers great benefits, including a generous pension scheme and training allowance.
