The first GREAT English videos  (which feature some English UK member centres) are on the themes of British culture, British food, extra-curricular activities, classrooms and friendship, and recieved over 405,000 views between April and mid June 2015.

  • Campaign one: one-minute video (apply by Monday 20 July)

  • Other opportunities to connect with the Chinese market

One-minute video: apply by Monday 20 July

UK providers of ELT are invited to submit one-minute videos produced on their campus to promote UK ELT in a fun and engaging way. For example students before and after a summer school programme, looking at how their views of the UK have changed and showcasing their English language ability, or a guide to regional accents in the UK. It is recommended that you include Chinese language subtitles.

Participating UK institutions will be expected to provide a completed video along with a brief introduction of around 100 words. The British Council China will promote this through a variety of digital channels, including its well-established Education UK group on WeChat (currently China's most popular social media tool), which has more than 40,000 followers.

To take part, complete the application form and email it to davisson.li@britishcouncil.org.cn by Monday 20 July. The cost is £100 + VAT per video.

Participating institutions will need to submit their one-minute video by 15 September.

Other opportunities to connect with the Chinese market

Another strand of the GREAT campaign is a focus on agent channels. This includes the sixth China Roadshow, which takes place in Beijing, Wuhan and Shanghai from 18 – 23 October.

Run by English UK in conjunction with British Council China, the roadshow is the leading annual event for UK English language summer school providers to meet high quality Chinese agents. Now in its sixth successful year, a record 400 quality agents from all over China attended the workshops in three cities last year.

Participation enables UK summer school providers to raise and enhance their centre profile and market recognition through extensive support from the British Council and English UK. Find out more about the China Roadshow 2015.

The China Roadshow is dovetailing with the English UK Fair Xi'an 2015.
