VisitBritain's new OMGB campaign promotes Britain in key ELT markets - get involved

VisitBritain has launched a major campaign across Brazil, the USA, France and Germany, to promote GREAT Britain as the 'Home of Amazing Moments' - encouraging would-be visitors to share their #OMGB (oh my GREAT Britain) moment.

This major new campaign is designed to show people the diversity of amazing experiences, culture and countryside available across Britain; and to inspire them to want to be part of it and to come and discover their own amazing moments. By kick-starting a global social media conversation about this beautiful land, it aims to reach more than 100 million people overall.

The campaign is split into two phases: the first directs people to, a website filled with images and videos of amazing moments that can be experienced in Britain. There is also a short YouTube film to launch campaign on VisitBritain's Facebook and Instagram channels.

Visitors can share the content from through their own social media using the hashtag #OMGB with the chance to win a holiday here in the UK. The campaign will also use social media influencers, who will share their own moments from recent holidays in Britain.

The second phase takes place in April and will ask visitors to upload images of their own memorable moments and experiences from their trips to Britain, again using the hashtag #OMGB. Some of these will be shared on VisitBritain's Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts.

Research published in November by VisitBritain showed the powerful influence social media has when it comes to positioning Britain as a destination of choice for international visitors. Almost 70 percent of all respondents said content posted online by friends made them want to visit a destination.

'Home of Amazing Moments' is part of the GREAT Britain campaign, the UK Government's global campaign to showcase the very best of what Britain has to offer as a place to visit, study and do business.  Both the 'Welcome to GREAT Britain' campaign, and our very own Brazilian-focused  English is GREAT: Speak to the World campaign also sit under this GREAT umbrella.

You can use this campaign to promote your destination or business by sharing your local experiences on social media using the hashtag #OMGB. A trade toolkit is available through the corporate section of VisitBritain's website to help you to create and share your own amazing moments to help put your area of Britain on the wish-list for overseas visitors.
