Beyond the hype: what AI really means for ELT leaders Beatrice Segura Harvey
This session provides academic managers with an overview of artificial intelligence in ELT. It examines how AI is currently embedded in education technology, introduces core concepts in generative AI, and outlines key ethical and legal considerations applicable to GDPR and UNESCO guidance. Through live examples and group discussions, participants will critically assess AI's relevance to their context and identify priority areas for further exploration.

Key considerations when developing AI policies for staff and students Neil Harris
This session explores the rationale and benefits of UK ELT providers engaging with the development of a practical, contextually appropriate AI framework which is designed to protect stakeholders such as students, teachers, and other staff from the risks of inappropriate generative artificial intelligence use. By the end of the session, participants will have a clear idea of the risks associated if their institutions and stakeholders have poor or no AI literacy and will have developed a roadmap for the creation of a policy and associated documents.

AI in the classroom: practical ideas for supporting your teachers with AI David Byrne
AI is here to stay and it has already changed the face of teaching and learning. The reality is that our learners are already using it but it's up to us to ensure they're using it responsibly and appropriately. This session will explore how AI can be threaded through our speaking and writing lessons, helping learners to develop their critical thinking and analytical skills. We'll also look at how to create engaging online artifacts (articles, quizzes, questionnaires) that can be easily shared with our students. By the end of the session, participants will have practical ideas that they can immediately use in CPD sessions with their teaching teams.

12:30 - 13:10 |
Adapting your workflow: using AI in institutional operations Beatrice Segura Harvey
This session explores the use of accessible AI tools to support key operational areas within academic management. Using a realistic case study Beatrice will demonstrate how AI can assist with workflow design, communication, and reduce manual/repetitive tasks. Participants will be introduced to prompt structuring techniques, basic testing methods for AI-generated content, and considerations for integration into existing systems. The session focuses on practical, cost-effective strategies that can be implemented without advanced technical knowledge.
