Vetting and Barring Scheme – Child Safe Seminar on 22nd June
11 June 2010

Child Safe are delivering a half-day seminar morning or afternoon session on the Vetting and Betting Scheme in London on 22nd June.

The Vetting and Barring Scheme will require all of those who wish to work with under-18’s and vulnerable adults to join a register which will be managed by the Independent Safeguarding Authority. New employees will be able to start joining the register from July and registration will become mandatory, again for new employees, from November.

Child Safe is a registered international charity which aims to encourage children and young people to participate in travel, sport, community groups and specific school programmes. Its aims are to provide practical advice, promote the safety, welfare and pastoral care of children and young people involved in such activities. This initiative (originating from work within the Avon and Somerset Constabulary, UK) is about empowering young people, improving care and reducing opportunities of abuse in its widest sense.

English UK is planning to hold a joint event with Child Safe specifically for English UK members in September 2010.
