English UK QUIC data reveals an increase in junior student weeks for Q2 2019

Data on English UK member centres reveals an increase in junior student weeks and greater insight into the top markets for Q2 of 2019.

The QUIC Q2 2019 data shows an increase in junior student weeks by 7.8% while adult student weeks dropped by 5% in comparison to Q2 2018. Saudi Arabia, Italy, China, South Korea and Switzerland were the top source markets overall.

The data is particularly informative, as 37% of all English UK members representing 50% of our student weeks participated in QUIC 2019.

Key insights

Of the 267 teaching locations participating in QUIC, 168 were operational in Q2 2019.

  • QUIC members reported a total of 192,558 student weeks
  • Saudi Arabia, Italy, China, South Korea and Switzerland were the top markets overall
  • Italy, Spain, Russia, France and China were the top junior source markets
  • Saudi Arabia, Italy, South Korea, China and Switzerland were the top adult source markets
  • Adult to junior ratio, 80%:20%
  • Commissionable to non-commissionable ratio, 77%:23%
  • Group to individual bookings ratio, 24%:76%.

Q2 2018 v Q2 2019 insights

The number of QUIC members increased by 20 in 2019, representing 154 English UK members.

  • Total number of student weeks dropped by 3%
  • Although adult student weeks dropped by 5%, junior student weeks increased by 7.8%
  • There was a 2% upward trend in the proportion of junior student weeks
  • 37 of the 113 source markets showed overall growth
  • Junior student weeks grew in 51 source markets and adult student weeks in 33 markets.
