Description of centre

Lyons Languages is a small, independent family-run language school based in the city of Ely, just north of Cambridge, in the East of England. We offer part-time tuition in English Language, and English Study Holidays for adults and juniors.
Practising English should be fun and engaging and isn’t just learnt in the classroom. Our programmes are designed to build confidence by encouraging speaking and listening to English as much as possible. Younger students on our Summer Study Holidays are immersed in English language and culture through engaging with homestay hosts and a busy schedule of visits and activities. For adults, we offer themed Study Holidays, focusing on cultural and creative activities supported by English Language tuition.
At Lyons Languages we focus on small group sizes, ensuring that students receive a very personal and individually-tailored educational and cultural experience.
The school is run by sisters Rosalind and Siobhan Lyons. Siobhan has an MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL and has taught English for several years in the UK, and previously in a number of schools in Italy where she lived for 20 years. Siobhan is also a professional translator, and brings a wealth of linguistic experience to our school and is principally in charge of language tuition.
Rosalind is a professional artist and has extensive experience as a lecturer in Further and Higher Education. She has BA and MA degrees in Fine Art and a PhD by Creative Practice, and is particularly involved in organising cultural activities, creative workshops and student welfare.
