What’s the difference between coaching and mentoring? When should I use coaching and how do I go about setting up a coaching programme? What’s my role and how do we get results? These are the type of questions that will be explored in Getting Results through Coaching and Mentoring.
Examples of both coaching and mentoring scenarios will be looked at and used to arrive at a closer definition of each. After this, the role of an effective coach will be focused on, including goal-setting, informing rather than advising, effective listening and developmental versus evaluative feedback. A possible coaching model will be considered and some common pitfalls with coaching relationships will be addressed. Finally, some of the techniques introduced in the session will be roleplayed by the group.
Delegates will be better equipped to support and develop their staff through implementing their own coaching and mentoring schemes.
