Director of Market Development

  • Full-time (37 hours per week)
  • Permanent contract
  • £55,000-£60,000 per year, dependent on experience
  • Hybrid working with regular travel to the London office

About the role

The Director of Market Development is a senior leadership role at English UK, responsible for shaping and delivering our market development strategy at a pivotal time for the UK ELT sector.

Operating at director level, you will set direction, advise senior colleagues and Boards, and represent English UK externally with authority and credibility. You will play a central role in identifying new routes to market, strengthening international partnerships and positioning English UK and its members for sustainable growth.

This is a visible and influential role, working closely with government colleagues, sector partners and international stakeholders to support the delivery of the UK Government's new International Education Strategy.


About you

You will bring:

  • Senior-level experience of international markets, partnerships and market development
  • Extensive knowledge of the UK ELT sector and its current operating environment
  • A strong track record of building and maintaining high-level relationships, particularly within government
  • Experience of identifying growth opportunities and leading or facilitating consortium bids
  • Confidence operating in a senior, public-facing leadership role
  • Strategic insight into the UK Government's International Education Strategy and the structures that support its delivery
You will be a persuasive and credible communicator, comfortable influencing at senior levels and representing the sector externally. You will also be a collaborative leader and team player, able to work effectively as part of the senior leadership team, build trust and momentum across the organisation, and support colleagues to deliver shared organisational objectives.
