21 September 2022

Bulletin on behalf of the DIT: Feature in DIT China's ESP catalogue

Department for International Trade (DIT) China is inviting UK-registered English language providers to apply to be featured, free of charge, in an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) catalogue that will be launched at a national education event in China.

Providers that are right for this opportunity should submit an expression of interest by Friday 14 October 2022

Background

TVET (technical and vocational education and training) development and reform is a top priority of the Chinese government as it aims to close skills gaps and enhance the employability of its taskforce to support new forms of economic growth.

DIT China will be launching an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) catalogue during the UK-China TVET  forum at China Annual Conference & Expo for International Education (CACIE).

Taking place on 10-12 November 2022, CACIE is the biggest and most comprehensive international education event in China. The event's value lies in its strong connections with the Ministry of Education and in its vast network. The event enjoys significant engagement with Chinese decision makers, key influencers, professionals and educational practitioners within the sector.

The catalogue

The aim of this catalogue is to present with case studies seven priority sectors for the China market where the UK may have specific TVET and ESP offers.

The suggested priority sectors are:

  • Finance (accounting, green finance, insurance, banking)
  • Engineering (environmental and structural engineering)
  • Healthcare (clinical medicine, public health)
  • Sports economy (sport recovery, physical training)
  • Marine / seafaring
  • Renewable / green energy
  • Logistic and transport.

The project's objectives are:

  • to demonstrate the UK's position as a leading ELT/ESP and TVET service provider in the international market.
  • to raise awareness among key Chinese decision makers regarding the vast variety of UK TVET and ESP offers with concrete case studies, business models and success stories.
  • to showcase UK Government support and the important role DIT is playing in propelling educational collaboration between the UK and China.

Apply to be included in the catalogue
