The English UK website has just had its busiest-ever week, with more than 11,000 visits to its pages.

Traffic jumped by 17 per cent in one week alone, with particular jumps recorded in page views from China, Indonesia, Egypt and Pakistan.

The rise in hits from Chinese visitors was particularly startling, up 648 per cent to 689 hits. Numbers visiting from Indonesia were up by 284 percent, with Egypt and Pakistan both registering a rise of around 80 per cent.

"We're really delighted that all the effort we have put into the website, including translating the main pages and the course finder, is clearly paying off," said Annie Wright, deputy chief executive of English UK. "It's also significant that many people are searching directly for English UK by name."

People looked at the site from 178 different countries and territories. Each visitor on average looked at just over six pages, spending about 2.5 minutes on the site.

The most popular pages were those aimed at students (where numbers rose over 50 per cent week on week) and the course finder pages, which also saw had a marked rise in visitor numbers.

Since October the site has been visited by over 98,000 people, who were responsible for 857,000 page views. During this period, visitors looked on average at 6.5 pages each, spending over three minutes browsing the site. Well over a third of visitors found the site by inputting the search term 'English UK' into Google.
