English UK and StudyPortals renew deal bringing cost-effective direct marketing to members
17 November 2016

English UK members will continue to get a free or discounted listing on one of Europe's leading course search websites after the organisation renewed its deal with the StudyPortals group for a further year.

All English UK members get a free basic listing on the specialist LanguageLearningPortal site and a 10 per cent discount if they take up the premium service, which allows students to click though to the websites of centres for more information or bookings.

Just under a quarter of members have opted for the premium service so far, which operates on a cost-effective pay-per-click model. An incentive for centres to sign up or renew their premium listing for £500 or more will be credited with 40,000 impressions of banner adverts, worth £320, on the LanguageLearningPortal website, highlighting their offer to students searching for courses.

"Direct bookings are becoming more important, and students and families will always check out centres online, even if they subsequently book through an agent. We believe every centre needs to have a good online presence, and our relationship with LanguageLearningPortal is an excellent, cost-effective way of doing that," said Jodie Gray, head of market development at English UK.

"We're delighted to continue our relationship with English UK and its members, and help them reach out directly to students in Europe and the rest of the world who are already searching for language centres. We'll be working to build on the excellent relationships we've already created with English UK and its members, to bring these benefits to as many as possible," said Rob Jansen, product director at the Netherlands-based StudyPortals.

LanguageLearningPortal is currently updating its listings for all English UK members. It will shortly send out links to the updated content for checking and to allow premium users to provide other sources of information.

Centres with a premium listing purchase a certain number of click-throughs in advance.

Between September 2015 and June 2016, there were 681,356 impressions of English UK member centres' listings, with 220,939 page views and 16,075 click-throughs.

LanguageLearningPortal.com receives users from 227 countries, 41 per cent of whom are in Asia and 29 per cent in Europe. Most users are aged 18-34, use a desktop computer, and spend on average 1.47 minutes on the site.
