English UK held another successful inward mission in late May for 15 agents from South America. The busy schedule included visits to Bournemouth, Torquay, Paignton, Exeter, Bristol and London, and was run in association with English UK South West.

During the week, the agents visited four member institutions for showcases, and met with approximately 30 member institutions during two full-day workshops held in Bournemouth and Bristol.

On the Tuesday evening, English UK South West kindly organised a Welcome Reception at Room with a View Restaurant in Torquay. The agents were able to network with about 15 member institutions from the South West region, in addition to enjoying excellent food and amazing views of the coast.

On the Friday evening, there was a reunion event in London for agents and educators who attended the Sao Paulo Fair earlier this year, and this was also open to all institutions participating in the inward mission. The evening began with a private group tour of central London by road and river aboard an amphibious yellow “Duck”. This was followed by dinner and drinks at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel in Bloomsbury.

The agents were lucky to have hot, sunny weather for their entire trip, and feedback received from both agents and members was very positive. One member commented that the workshop was “a cost effective way to get to know a good selection of quality agents from South America”, while an agent from Brazil said, “My opinion is that all schools and contacts were very important. I can use all of them in different cases and from each school I learnt a lot.”

English UK plans to hold the next inward mission in October 2010 with agents from Central, Southern and Eastern Europe.
