Switzerland joins UK green list in latest travel update

UK travel list changes: Monday 30 August

The following changes to the UK's travel lists came into effect at 04:00 on Monday 30 August. Of most impact to UK ELT, Switzerland moved to the green list, while Thailand moved to the red list. 

Countries moved to the green list

The following countries/territories moved to the green list, meaning all arriving passengers avoid quarantine on arrival, regardless of their vaccine status. Passengers still need to take a pre-departure test and a test on day two after arrival.  

  • The Azores
  • Canada
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • Liechtenstein
  • Lithuania
  • Switzerland

Countries moved to the red list

The following countries/territories moved from the amber to the red list. Only travellers who are British Nationals or who have residence rights in the UK (including students who have a Student visa or an 11-month Short-term study visa) may enter the UK. They must quarantine in a managed hotel for ten days on arrival.

  • Montenegro
  • Thailand
