English language related opportunities in Colombia and South East Asia

We have received information through the ELT Working Group  about the following opportunities that may be of interest to English UK members:

1.     Call for institutional partners, South East Asia: research and quality assurance strand

The attached document outlines opportunities around a programme of English language and IT for young women in Bangladesh. The British Council is seeking an institutional partner/s to support the planned review and development of the existing programme with the aim of securing funding for further years and rolling it out in India and Nepal. Please read the attached document for the project description, role description, anticipated key deliverables, qualifications and experience required for experts and further information on the application process.

2.     Call for institutional partnership, EITA South Asia: monitoring and evaluation strand

The British Council is also seeking an institutional partner to work alongside them and country partners to support the project design, monitoring and evaluation of the second phase of the English and ICT for Adolescents (EITA) programme across Bangladesh and pilot projects in India and Nepal.  If the programme is successful they hope the relationship would evolve so that the British Council and the selected institution could jointly bid for donor funding to extend the programme from 2016 to 2017. Please read the attached documents for the project description, role description, anticipated key deliverables, qualifications and experience required for experts and further information on the application process.

There are also several opportunities around English language (also referred to as 'bilingualism') from the Ministry of Education in Colombia.  These opportunities are flagged as business pointers on UKTI Education Business Opportunities. Although each one is relatively modest in scale, collectively they signal the Ministry's overall investment in building capacity around English in the public school system in Colombia.  Another opportunity around textbooks for secondary schools will be posted on the UKTI Business Opportunities pages soon and further opportunities in this area are expected to emerge over the next few months. 

3.     Opportunity to supply bilingual technological materials and training for teachers in Colombia

The Ministry of Education of Colombia has recently opened a process for the acquisition of bilingual technological material, and the corresponding training for teachers. This is seen as a a way to support and develop better teaching practices and the use of new technologies in the school classrooms. The estimated value of this project is £320,000.

4.     Opportunity to design an English test and to implement English assessment evaluations

The Ministry of Education of Colombia has opened a public contracting process for the design of the English component of an official standardised test (called Saber 9°), and the implementation of assessment evaluations for public teachers. The estimated value of the contract is £367,000, and the duration of the contract is of about 6 months.
