London police praised for quick response to terror attack
5 June 2017

Police have been praised for their very quick response to the attack at London Bridge on Saturday night. Three terrorists were shot dead by police just eight minutes after the first 999 call, but tragically seven people were killed and 48 people were injured.

The UK police and security and intelligence services are doing everything possible to keep the public safe, and London is open as usual.

Sadiq Khan, the London Mayor, said there would be more police on the streets of the city during the next few days but there was no reason to be alarmed. He added: "I'm reassured that we are one of the safest global cities in the world, if not the safest global city in the world, but we always review ways to make sure we're as safe as we possibly can."

Theresa May, the Prime Minister, has promised to bring in extra anti-terror laws and wants more international policing of the internet.

Twelve people have already been arrested in connection with the attack
