British Council secures contract for teacher training programme
6 October 2011

The British Council has secured a contract for a teacher training programme worth £4.5m with the German state of Saxony. The British Council are now asking for expressions of interest from language centres in the UK to provide English language courses in the UK for state schools teachers of English from the state during the period 2012-2014. It is expected that a total of at least 700 teachers will participate in the scheme over the 3 years.

The courses will be for groups of primary and secondary teachers of English. Each group will attend UK courses twice a year, in February, and then in July or August.

Each training course will consist of a mixture of English language improvement classes, visits to local state schools and other organisations, and cultural visits.

If you are interested, please contact Tom Poole at tom.poole@britishcouncil.org by Tuesday 11 October, for further information. Full proposals should be returned to the British Council by Friday 21 October.
