ELT Conference Malta - call for proposals

The first ELT Conference organised by the EFL Monitoring Board, Ministry of Education and Employment, will be held on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th September 2012, at the Old University Building, Valletta, Malta.

The aim of this conference is to provide a forum in which to explore current trends in ELT and to discuss a number of subsidiary issues. The Ministry of Education and Employment, Malta would therefore like invite proposals for talks and workshops relevant to the conference theme.

The Conference theme is 'Current Trends in ELT' and sessions should address such matters as:

  • Key trends in ELT today
  • Teaching via the new media
  • Innovative language teaching methodology
  • Creativity in the classroom
  • Reflective practice
  • Learner-centred teaching
  • Mixed ability and differentiated teaching
  • Enhancing teacher education
  • Learner autonomy
  • The ELT professional


All sessions should consist of adequate audience participation and any theoretical presentations should be complemented by a concern for practical classroom activities.

Each proposal should consist of the following:

  • title of session
  • 150-word abstract
  • 60-word bio-note
