English UK chief executive Tony Millns says he is "encouraged" by remarks made by Labour leader Ed Miliband during a ground-breaking speech on immigration today.

Mr Miliband criticised the current government's approach to immigration, saying that in making promises they cannot keep is leading to decisions "like stopping universities generating income from foreign students."

Answering questions after the speech, he has promised to include English language students in his party's review of the visa system.

"He seemed well-informed and able to speak at length on the issues affecting the English language sector, which was very encouraging," said Mr Millns.
