Day of action helps raise awareness of the challenges the sector continues to face

Representatives from member centres as far away as York, Hull, Bournemouth, and Margate braved the heatwave to join us in Westminster on Monday 19 July to protest at the lack of effective government support for the sector.

Over 60 representatives including staff, managers and owners of English language centres and service providers joined our save #UKELT day of action.

We are grateful to MPs Stephen Hammond (Wimbledon), Craig Mackinlay (South Thanet) and Gareth Thomas (Harrow West) who took the time to come and meet us and their constituents at the protest to hear more about our sector's devastating loss of students and revenue since the start of the pandemic.

The day of action in Westminster also saw the UKLC fundraisers complete their 500 miles for UK ELT. UKLC + friends travelled 500 miles visiting UKLC's 10 closed summer schools using nothing but sustainable travel (walking or cycling) to raise awareness of the plight of the sector while hoping to raise £3,000 for the Eddie Byers Fund. They have smashed their target and raised £4,250+. You can still support the UKLC team on JustGiving.
