Description of centre
Established in 1979, BEET is a family-run independent school which aims to achieve the highest standards in an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness. We are situated in the beautiful seaside town of Bournemouth on the South coast of England, just 100 minutes by train from London. BEET is open all year (except for Christmas and New Year).
BEET is medium-sized, with an average of 180 students from, normally, between 20 and 40 different countries. This size enables us to provide a properly structured learning programme with the individual attention that students need. The average age is 19 to 35 years. However, there is no upper limit; it's common to have students in their 30s, 40s and 50s, and older. The minimum age is 16.
BEET is well equipped with modern Smart Board technology in every classroom. We have a library/computer room with a range of books students can borrow free of charge, and computers for them to use. We also have a student lounge where they're able to sit and relax comfortably, chat to their friends, or even do homework! We also have a very popular canteen serving freshly prepared hot & cold food, snacks and treats!
All students have unlimited access to Beet Online, our wonderful online learning platform. This is used for tutorials and private study. We also have a (friendly) Beet Online competition where students are encouraged to compete against one another, vouchers for the top 3 users each month win vouchers for the canteen! Students can access Beet Online for 1 year from the start of their course! Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the school.
We have a varied evening social programme offering 5 activities each week: music, quiz & games nights, Irish dancing, Karaoke, lectures, and more! Teacher-led weekend excursions to London, Oxford, Bath etc., are also organised each week.
Accommodation is available in homestay, homestay plus, executive homestay, student house (self-catering) or en-suite summer apartments.
BEET offers three Core Programmes: General English, IELTS Preparation & Cambridge English Exam Preparation. Students can also follow additional specialised modules from the Options Programme: Speaking, Pronunciation & Listening; Reading, Writing & Vocabulary and additional exam preparation.
