Description of centre
At The Globe, learning English has always been about much more than what happens in the classroom. Since opening in Exeter in 1978, Globe has welcomed students from around the world, creating opportunities to learn English while experiencing British life, culture and the unique character of Devon.
Set in the historic city of Exeter, Globe offers students the chance to immerse themselves in everyday English. Interactive and professional lessons are complemented by a varied programme of social, cultural and educational activities, allowing students to put their language skills into practice in real-life situations.
From exploring Exeter’s historic streets, cathedral and ancient landmarks to discovering traditional British customs, local food and the surrounding countryside, students experience the language as part of daily life. Excursions into Devon provide opportunities to visit beautiful coastal towns, beaches and places of historical and cultural interest, giving students a genuine taste of the South West of England.
The international nature of the Globe is an important part of the experience. Students live and learn alongside young people and adults from many different countries, making friendships, sharing cultures and discovering new perspectives. English becomes the common language that brings everyone together.
The school’s welcoming, family atmosphere encourages students to feel at home while also giving them the independence to explore, participate and make memories. Whether enjoying an organised excursion, taking part in a cultural activity, spending time with classmates or simply discovering Exeter for themselves, students are encouraged to experience Britain rather than simply study it.
Globe English Centre offers an authentic combination of language learning, cultural discovery and international friendship — an experience that stays with students long after they leave Exeter.
