After three and a half years, Sarah Cooper is moving on from her role as chief executive of English UK at the end of January 2020.

As CEO, Sarah championed the UK English language teaching sector in the challenging post EU referendum era.

She joined English UK in August 2016 from South Thames College in London, where she was dean of management and professional studies, international English. Before that she was the college's deputy director for Higher Education and curriculum manager for English for international students. She has taught students in both the private and state sector.

Sarah served as a member of the English UK Board of Trustees from June 2010, acting as vice chair for four years and also as chair in 2014 and 2015.

Now she is starting a new chapter in her career in international education as a consultant.

You will all have an opportunity to say thank you to Sarah at the English UK Marketing Conference on Friday 7 February. This will be Sarah's last official engagement for English UK.

Going forward you will hear from us soon on a recruitment strategy for the new chief executive. In the meantime, we will have an interim structure in place in which Jodie Gray, director of strategic development, will take on the role of interim chief executive from 1 February 2020.

We would like to thank Sarah for her all her work promoting UK ELT and wish her well in her future career.
