Migration Advisory Committee consultation on the shortage occupation list - help us by submitting evidence

This week we attended a meeting called by the Home Office Education Advisory Group to allow key education sector representatives to present their concerns around post-Brexit recruitment needs to the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC).

We raised concerns over the seasonal nature of UK ELT recruitment, with prohibitive costs for those needing to recruit EU/ EAA staff under the Tier 2 sponsorship route. Our future lobbying in this area will focus on the extension of the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme to EU/ EEA citizens, allied to specific seasonal workers' exemption for our sector.

You can help us with this campaign by completing the MAC's call for evidence via their online survey. You will be asked about roles that are being filled by migrant workers, the salaries they are paid and the implications of potential changes. The consulation closes at 11:45 on Wednesday 24 June 2020.

The MAC understand that the Covid-19 outbreak means that some organisations may not currently have capacity to respond fully, so they have created options to provide more limited evidence or to register that you would have responded in different circumstances.
